[ Spock's hands settle on Jim's hips once he's up, the movements of his hands slow and careful, inching under his shirt one finger at a time. His eyes finally drop from Jim's, concentrating instead on where he places each touch and caress.
His mind is quiet along the link, still warm and bright, but the intensity of his thoughts is redirected, his intended task foremost in his mind. ]
[ It takes several moments for Spock's hands to be fully under Jim's shirt, his cool hands pressing against Jim's warmer skin, and only then does Spock start to inch the shirt upwards. He does this slowly too, mapping out every contour of Jim's torso, his fingertips lingering over every scar and groove.
Several full minutes are spent like this, Spock's hands covering every expanse beneath his palms. Only when the shirt is raised high enough to reveal Jim's chest does Spock add something new to his exploration of Jim's body - he leans in and down, pressing his lips to Jim's sternum. ]
[This might be the closest Jim's ever come to being self-conscious, wondering what exactly Spock was feeling/looking for.
Spock will feel Jim's heart pounding and the rate high against his lips. His breath catches in his throat and his throat is dry. He can't help the question that comes across their link, not quite formed words, but clearly a what are you doing conveyed by more of a feeling.]
[ Spock doesn't reply outright, verbally or telepathically. But every beat and pulse of Spock's touch echoes patience.
His mouth lingers over Jim's skin, his hands sliding to hold his sides. Even the movement of his lips is slow, every kiss and gentle suckle a deliberate act and full of heat and and particular intensity neither of them have openly named yet ... ]
[He stabilizes both of them by putting his hands down on the bed slightly behind him. Another shiver now at the movement of Spock's hands and the heat combined with the light, cool brush of Spock's lips on his chest. He closes his eyes then and just enjoys the physical and telepathic sensations.]
[ Spock encourages it, tugging him away from his earlier confusion and tension, sending waves of that yet-to-be-named intensity along the bond. He wants Jim to simply enjoy this: to enjoy the focus and concentration on his pleasure, to forget about their earlier pain and sorrow brought on by nightmares. He knows Jim prefers physical proximity, but he had suspicions that Jim never actually slowed down enough to enjoy them. So Spock offers what he can, hoping it will make up for the rest of their night ... ]
[And for once, Jim doesn't mind the slow pace, as it gives him time to put away what happened tonight into a corner of his mind for revisiting later. He's always been too quick, frenzied whenever he and someone else were intimate. It was easy to skip past the complicated things like attachment and any emotion that wasn't a result of pure lust that way. This kind of pace was new.
He brings up a hand and cards it through Spock's dark hair, re-opening his eyes--he likes to see whenever Spock's hair is moved from it's usual perfectly straight cut.]
[ Spock catches that stray thought, making this the first time he's paused since he began, glancing up at Jim with his lips hovering over his chest still, one eyebrow cocked. ]
[When Spock pauses, his eyes shift to Spock's. He just genuinely grins, mirth not taking the form of a laugh but a warm burst across their link, his hand running through Spock's hair once more.]
[ A soft breath puffs against Jim's skin, the closest Spock will get to actually rolling his eyes. But at least the humor is answered in kind along the link, if also accompanied by an equal measure of exasperation.
It's at this point when his hands move higher, tugging the shirt in earnest now, pulling it over Jim's head and arms to take it completely off. ]
[ When it's completely off and left somewhere over the side of the bed, the amusement fades once more into that concentration, Spock leaning in once again—but he lingers close instead of actually kissing him. Close enough that Jim can feel each breath, Spock hovers just over his mouth and chin, his hands once more trailing up from Jim's chest. They outline his shoulders now, the top of his arms, the cords of his neck and curve of his Adam's apple, leaving cool trails in his fingers' wake. ]
[That curiosity comes back full force as he watches Spock shift back to being focused, his hand dropping to go back to supporting himself. He tilts his head slightly, getting ready for a kiss himself, but comes up short when Spock stops as well, hovering. He wanted the kiss but he also wanted to know what exactly Spock was doing...but something was telling him not to ask, that he'd probably find out.
In the meantime, he moves his head slightly to allow Spock's hands to reach the full length of his neck, another shiver shooting down his spine, enough to give him goosebumps.]
[ And finally, his fingers rise to Jim's face as well, the tips cool as they caress over his jaw and cheeks, tracing along his eyebrows and the shell of his ear. Spock finally leans in close enough to brush their lips together when he threads one hand into his hair. ]
[Jim sits up a bit straighter, now that Spock was at his usual height and not hunched near his chest. He returns the kiss gently, bringing one hand up to rest on Spock's cheek, the other moving to grip at Spock's hip, no longer needing the extra support to sit up. And if he nips at Spock's bottom lip, it's not too hard.]
[ He sighs lightly against Jim's mouth at the nip, the hand in his hair sliding to the back of Jim's head, holding him close. He nips back at Jim's lip, and it's followed by a surge of determination within the link, Spock gathering courage for something ...
When the he completes the nip, lightly worrying at Jim's lip with his teeth, Spock breathes out against his mouth, the words soft and quiet and, surprisingly, in Vulcan. ]
[There's a small pleased sound that escapes his throat when Spock bites back.
His eyes had slid shut while they kissed and he reopens them when he feels Spock steeling himself for...whatever he's just said. A small thrill goes through him. Spock doesn't use Vulcan at random. He licks his lips before asking, by way of saying:]
[ Oh. There's a pause in Spock's movements, a hitch in his thoughts—the determination experiencing something like a hiccup. It dims Spock's thoughts for a moment before he recovers quickly, the blip lasting for maybe less than a second as Spock resettles his thoughts.
The emotions behind the surface of the link churn briefly, as if he's debating how best to answer without betraying too much of himself, not allowing himself to be swept up in the emotions. He settles on a more clinical explanation: ]
Taluhk translates to something of value or precious. The layered meanings include the following: of great importance, having admirable or esteemed qualities or characteristics. [ A minor wave of hesitancy enters his thoughts as he continues. ] To be thought of as valuable, highly esteemed, dear to one's self or to others ... cherished.
[Jim feels the mental stutter and when Spock starts talking and Jim starts to correlate his words with his emotional state...well, now he knows where it came from.
There's a soft flutter from his end of the bond that's extinguished abruptly as Spock's words make his breath catch. There's a tightness in his chest that's not unpleasant.
He reaches up with his other hand so that they both frame Spock's face, their physical link quite strong with this amount of contact and proximity, in order to let the emotions welling up in him to flow freely towards Spock's mind.
There was no denying it anymore. It was pure, complicated love that squeezed at his heart and made him want to sink into Spock's essence, body and soul. And it terrified him, roots running deep and far from the surface of his mind. He couldn't say it out loud. Not yet. Underneath that was an equally strong wave of gratitude, that even more complicated than the love.]
[ Spock had unconsciously turned his face away when his thoughts stuttered, an attempt to save face in the emotional context of the conversation. But he turns back when Jim cups his other cheek, meeting Jim's eyes once again.
Now it's his breath that hitches in his throat as the wave of Jim's emotions flows through the link, eclipsing his own hesitancy. Spock responds to it immediately, an echoing wave of his own rising up to meet Jim's.
Spock's voice is even softer now, with a barely detectable tremble, ] It is a phrase often used between bondmates. Is this ... acceptable to you?
[Whatever his own hangups are, he can at least definitely feel Spock returning those feelings. They're real. He tries to store this feeling away in his memories to pull up later.
